Founded in 1922, Yunnan University is one of the earliest comprehensive universities in the western border areas of China. In 1978, Yunnan University was designated as one of the 88 key universities in China by The State Council. In 1996, it was listed in the national "Project 211" key construction project. In 2017, it became one of the first 42 "First-class Universities" construction universities in China. In 2018, it became one of the 14 universities in central and western China that are jointly built by the ministry and the province.
Materials Science and Engineering is a key discipline of Yunnan University, which has a long and glorious history. There are 59 faculty members in this discipline, including 1 member of the National Youth Thousand program, 1 member of the New Century Excellent Talent program of the Ministry of Education, 17 provincial talents, such as Yunling Scholar, Provincial Young and Middle-aged academic and technical leader, Provincial Youth Thousand Program and Provincial Youth Top Talent. 27 have overseas study or work experience. The school has 17 professors and 28 associate professors. Forty-nine have PHDS. At present, the school has undergraduate program of "Materials Science and Engineering", first-class master's program, first-class doctoral program and provincial post-doctoral station. It has established the National Joint Research Center for Optoelectronic Energy Materials, yunnan Provincial Key Laboratory of Micro-nano Materials and Technology, and Yunnan Provincial Engineering Laboratory of Copper based and Special Advanced Conductive Materials. The discipline has formed a talent training mode of "thick foundation, strong practice and innovation", which reflects the development frontier of materials discipline and local resource economy characteristics.
In order to promote academic exchanges among outstanding college students, strengthen students' understanding of The School of Materials and Energy, Yunnan University, and identify and select outstanding students for further study in our college, our college will hold the National Excellent College Students Summer Camp from July 18 to 19, 2020.
